CONTINUING BAN ON TRAVELLING OF INDIAN NATIONALS

FROM AND THROUGH KUWAIT TO IRAQ

The Government of India imposed a ban on travel of Indian nationals from and through Kuwait to Iraq effective August 2004.  The ban had been imposed in view of the prevailing security situation in Iraq and was motivated by the Government of India's concerns for the safety and security of its nationals.

The Government of India would once again like to advise all Indian nationals to desist from travelling to Iraq in their own interest until such time a decision is made to lift the ban on such travel.

All companies based in Kuwait which employ Indian nationals are advised to ensure that in view of the continuing ban, they should refrain from sending Indian nationals to Iraq from and through Kuwait.

The ban on travel of Indian nationals to Iraq from and through Kuwait would continue to remain in force till its further review by the Government of India.
